Evidence

To confirm my participation in the Maywood Education fair, I arrived at the designated time of 8am, and met with the entire cohort and faculty for attendance. My designated job as a floater/runner was to travel and get more supplies if needed. I kept a text message, phone call and receipt track record to show my whereabouts and goals at all times. At the end of the day, after clean up, we all met again for attendance before departing. I have also provide the below picture taken at the Maywood education fair.

Reflection

The Maywood fair represents the type of mission I got into higher education for. The event and its purpose were pure in motive and had a straight forward focus of meeting people where they were at, and helping them gain a better understanding of how they could participate in higher education. While the logistics of the event may have been chaotic at times, and the fundraising may have been challenging; when the event was in production and the community was there participating, it was just good old hard work. As a runner, I was constantly moving and traveling to and from the Maywood site, but I felt very much in tune with the spirit of the event and could see my contributions meant something.

I did here some criticisms of how the event was run. One of the more common criticisms was asking for donations for the event from people who may share a similar socio-economic status as the community the event was for. Another criticism I heard was how people involved felt that the event may have begun to out grow its venue.

Looking back on the event, there was a lot to be proud of. I saw a display of organization and clarity in regards to the floor plan and it’s locations that were incredibly clever. I did see numerous efforts to collect data and begin assessing various aspects of the fair, so I feel confident in having evidence to validate it moving forward. Regarding the community, I witnessed members of all ages coming and being intrigued, and asking questions and attending
